Simple Ways To Get Festive This Holiday Season

It’s that time of year again and the snow will start again soon here in Upstate NY. Sometimes I feel the season comes a tad too fast and everyone decorates too soon. I just want to share some quick ideas that might warm the mind for the Holidays. Sometimes it’s more than tree that is needed to get that right festive feeling!

  1. Smells Like The Holidays

This is a simple and straight forward idea that takes a quick pickup from the store or online buy to make happen. Get some candles, they are great to mood set any home and bring us a reminder that Winter is here and so are all the festivities. The association of pine or a candy cane can completely flip the room while being completely invisible!+

  2. White Lights & Red Furnishings

If you have a little bit of a budget, a nice way to get the house looking good this season is to simply light it up! It get so dark this time of year so fast and keeping everything lit up will make the magic happen in your home! White light strips or any kind of hanging light that gives off that clean white look is perfect for your home. To top it off, adding red pillows or blankets to your living areas and covering tables in red cloth can add a lot with a little. Red is a pretty dominate color so you won’t need much to make everyone feel like they’re home for the Holidays!

  3. Put a Wreath On It

Simple but a classic, the wreath, although they’ve gained popularity in almost all seasons this one takes the cake as one of the number one décor items for the Winter season. If you can get yourself one with good battery powered lighting for the front door, you can let the whole neighborhood know you’re waiting for St. Nick! If you can’t find any battery powered ones, we suggest finding a timer plug that allows you to set it for night only, or you’ll be outside turning this one off every night!

  4. Music to my Ears

This one is fairly clear to us, because it’s super easy to access. Christmas tunes! From Jingle Bell Rockin’ on the Radio or being the Drummer Boy on Spotify or Apple Music, you can set the mood fast with music. Most platforms have playlists they update on their subscription that saves you the heavy lifting all without the advertisements. We suggest you make your own playlist though and be your own festive DJ this season! Mixed with the lighting and candles, there’s no way anyone could feel like a Scrooge!

  5. Chestnuts Roastin’ by an Open Fire

Last but not least, bring the warmth to the room with a natural fire. Of course this might be mandatory in your home if you use it as your main source of heat, but this could also be propane fueled for aesthetic as well. This is becoming extremely popular as a secondary option for heat while also giving off a nice look to your home. We might even suggest getting one of these in your style (modern, rustic, classic) in your home for the upcoming years! If neither of those options work, there are plenty of fireplace simulators online that look like the real deal without the warm heat!
